The birds swept across the prairie in a carefully regimented pattern, stopping to stab with their scissorlike bills into parked dirt to spear caterpillars. With a honk for assistance, a stilt-legged bird could call for its companions to help wrestle the prey out of the ground; they used their sharp beaks to snip the victim into equal portions. The birds gulped down the morsels, leaving the heavy shells behind like wreckage of a small ship. The the birds lined up again and continued their march across the grasslands.
All of these creatures were burned to a cinder with one blast from the Death Star.
